Frank Gehry, architect to the stars, designed the Merriweather Post Pavilion in 1967. It was one of his first buildings, and experts praised the acoustics.
Janis Joplin, for example. Jimi Hendrix. The Who and Led Zeppelin — on the same bill! It might have been built as a summer home for the National Symphony Orchestra, but Meriweather Post Pavilion has seen 'em all, and it's moments from The Gramercy at Town Center. Nothing beats a long summer night here among the gorgeous Symphony Woods. Perhaps spare a thought for cereal giant the Post Company, who donated the land — or don't. Forget your cares, forget everything, and ride away on a sea of sound.
